Youth Initiative For Economic Transformation (YIET) Initiative is a community based organization operating in Kiryandongo District in Midwestern Uganda, registered with Kiryandongo District Local Government.

YIET's Mission; "To transform the livelihoods of the youth and instill in them an early stage fiancial, Foundational and Leadership Skills and knowledge for economic development"

WHY: Uganda's main economic activity is agriculture, which is prevalent in rural communities and carried out on a subsistance basis with limited scale. For its youths, the fundamentals of the economy means that the opportunity for education, employment, or access to funds to start up income generating activities is extremely limited, leading to slow development and social issues.

YIET runs 3 major programs to fulfil this void;

1. Financial Literacy, which promotes financial literacy education and practices through collaboration with the existing Village Savings and Loaning Association Activities (VSLA) organizations. Loans are granted to people to further their business activities, mimicking an informal financial institution setup.

2. Foundational Skills, is aimed at imparting education on practical life skills and awareness on sexual reproductive health, especially for young girls through training them on making Reusable Menstrual Pads for affordability and sustainability so that they ma continue their basic right of education and independence.

3. Leadership Skills program, which looks to empower, engage, mentor and produce great leaders capable of managing and providing effective leadership to the rest of the people around them.

YIET, through its programs, aims to enable a series of small changes that eventually link together to strengthen the fabric of the local community and economy, including bridging the current generation out of poverty.

To date, YIET through its 3 programs has enabled the following progress;

84 new businesses have started through its Village Savings and Loaning Association (VSLA) Activity programs.

292 individuals have been trained in financial literacy and leadership skills.

84 young girls have received education on reproductive health trained in making Reusable menstrual pads for female hygiene.

But for us to sustain this journey, we need ongoing funds and hence we are seeking your kind donations, which as you will note are going towards transforming our society at grassroots level and ensuring a path towards a sustainable future.

Thank you very much in advance!
