GIBEH Uganda launched its Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management )MHHM) Campaign this year after identification of menstruation as a key challenge and barrier to girl child education in Uganda. We further realized that menstruation dignity of most of these young people can best be protected through access; that is making sure that girls can access pads to continue with daily business even during this period, education; that is teaching girls what menstruations is and what to expect from it, and de-stigmatization; to ensure that taboos and stigma are broken around the area of menstruation.

We have undertaken some trainings in schools on this subject and even donated some disposable pads within our means. However, we believe the problem is bigger even within the communities despite the fact that we are limited by funding.

We envisage a society where girls can freely access information on menstrual health and hygiene to ease this stage of this stage of their life, a society where those who cannot afford buying can afford making reusable sanitary towels for ease of this period; a society where girls and women are not stigmatized for their natural reproductive system among other things.

GIBEH Uganda will appreciate any support given towards this campaign. "Every Pad counts, A pad can sustain and keep a girl in school for a given period of time, Nothing is little if it can change life".
